The My Ascension Project
The My Ascension Project is making it possible for communities across the country to put Emma’s message of hope and healing to use in their own neighborhoods.
Through film screenings, community conversations, turnkey toolkits and partnerships with committed community members, we are aiming to end the national suicide epidemic which claims the lives of 20 young people each day.
Our Mission
There are over 1 million suicide attempts each year in the US. We want to bring Emma’s message of hope and healing to each and every single person who needs to hear it.
Emma and MY ASCENSION are on a mission to:
Provide easy access to mental health resources
Promote mental health & suicide prevention through innovative social media campaigns
Touch 1 million lives in 2024
We are touching lives through:
School screenings & assemblies for students, parents and educators
Turnkey tools & screenings for youth mental health professionals
Community screenings & conversations with mental health advocates and the public
Social media content aimed at promoting healing conversations
Peer-to-Peer Support
Peer-to-peer support has been shown to help young people who are suffering in silence with anxiety and depression. Hope Squad is a school based peer-to-peer suicide prevention program highlighted in the film. Members are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers and trained by advisors. The program reduces the risk of youth suicide through education, training, and peer support.
Emma and The My Ascension Project recognize the importance of peer-to-peer support in keeping kids safe. In addition to Hope Squad, other programs are also doing great work empowering young people to take an active role in suicide prevention and mental wellness efforts. We hope you’ll consider starting a peer-to-peer support group that best fits the needs of your students.
